The TCMMY Inspiration Station
Inspiration Station: The Transitional Period Pt 1 (Navigate The Wilderness)
Feeling stuck between your past and future? You're not alone. That uncomfortable middle ground—not where you were, yet not where you want to be—is the wilderness of transition that so many of us struggle to navigate.
Drawing wisdom from the ancient story of the Israelites, we explore a startling truth: their journey from Egyptian slavery to the Promised Land should have taken just 11 days, but stretched into 40 years. Why? Because even though they'd escaped physical bondage, they remained chained to old mindsets, memories, and attachments. Sound familiar?
Transition resembles childbirth—messy, painful, and intensely uncomfortable just before breakthrough arrives. This is precisely when most of us consider retreating to what's familiar, even if what's familiar was harmful. I've watched clients, friends, and perhaps you've watched yourself return to credit card debt after becoming debt-free, toxic relationships after healing, or limiting environments after tasting freedom—all because transition feels too uncomfortable.
The most powerful insight? You can't simultaneously grip your past while receiving your future. When your hands are full of yesterday's baggage—outdated mindsets, painful memories, limiting relationships—you have no capacity to grasp the opportunities before you. Transformation demands we travel light, shedding what no longer serves us to make room for what awaits.
This episode kicks off a series exploring how to navigate transition successfully. Whether you're changing careers, ending relationships, or simply evolving as a person, join us as we discover how to release the past, embrace the uncomfortable middle, and step confidently into transformation. Your journey through the wilderness doesn't have to take 40 years—listen now and let's find the shorter path together.

Speaker 1:Where you are and how you're listening to the calling is to you and the inspiration station. We thank you again for making us part of your week. I tell you what it has been crazy since the last time I've been with you guys. There have been quite a few changes going on with the inspiration station. I want to make you guys aware of a couple of things. Uh, one thing is that we're going to be going audio only on the inspiration station. I want to make you guys aware of a couple of things. Uh, one thing is that we're going to be going audio only on the inspiration station. I know that there are many of you who are watching the videos on our youtube channel and, of course, social, and it just feels to me like you guys really appreciate the audio only episodes a lot more and and honestly it's a monologue I'm speaking to the people, I'm speaking to you as the listener. So, even if you're busy doing things in your normal everyday life whether it be commuting, whether it be jogging or doing laundry all the things that I heard you guys do when you're watching or listening to our show I think audio only is meeting that need for you and I want to make things simpler for you guys. And, of course, I really get a lot of enjoyment out of doing audio only episodes. I mean, you guys know, if you've been tracking with us since 2020, when we started this podcasting venture, this journey, it was audio only for about three seasons and guess what? It was some of the best work I've ever done in the podcasting slash media foray. So I'm excited about taking this little pivot. All the rest of our shows on our brand are going to be audio and videos. You can watch us as well as listen, but for now, we're going straight with the audio-only episodes. So just want you guys to be aware of that in regards to Inspiration Station, but just wanted to kind of give you guys a shout-out. Thanks for all you guys that are watching and listening across all of the platforms. We definitely appreciate what you're doing.
Speaker 1:Now, one of the things that has been on my heart that I just really can't seem to get past and I'm seeing it in the circles and spheres around me, it's not just in my personal life, I'm seeing it across the board is how we handle transition, and I got to be honest about it, it doesn't look really good. From what I'm seeing right now. We don't seem to be handling transition very well. You can resonate with that, of course. Please drop some love in the comments section where you're watching this episode or listen, excuse me, listening to this episode. Let us know what you think about that, but it seems as though we're not handling inspiration very well. Now, whether you guys, I know some of my listeners love to watch the news, so they get all of the hits, the latest hits, every night or even throughout the day listening to the news on their phones through apps watching it on television. So they're getting all of the bad news and you know they're not adjusting very well to it. I got some friends that don't watch the news at all, so they're totally unaware of what's going on in the world around us. I got some friends like those as well. But overall it seems to me like we're not adjusting to transition very well. I want to get into what I'm talking about with that.
Speaker 1:Let's look at the book of Numbers, the 14th chapter, verse 3 to 4. And you guys probably know the story already. But the bottom line is that the children of Israel were removed or released from a place of bondage and slavery, which is Egypt in this case. They moved out of Egypt, out of bondage, out of slavery, to be clear, into a place that was promised, that was provisioned for them. Now they hadn't gotten there yet. They were in that transitional place that we all know so well.
Speaker 1:You get out of a bad place. You know it's bad, you remember it, you can still taste it, you can still smell it, you know it's not good for you. So you're out of that place now. But now you're in the in-between place. You're not at the place of milk and honey yet. You're not in the good spot yet You're in the in-between place. That's transition, right there.
Speaker 1:If any of you are listening to this show and you are a mother, that means you are aware of what the child birthing process looks like. There's a part of the labor process that's called transition. Basically that means it's the last part of labor process is to place's the strongest contractions, the most intense pain, and of course it's really messy. If any of you mothers can testify about that, you can definitely share some of your stories, if you'd like to, in our comments section. Totally cool with that if you feel comfortable with it.
Speaker 1:But the bottom line is that it's a place of transition. It's not where you want to be yet, but it's not where you were either. And so many of us, whether we recognize it or not, we're in the place of transition. We're not where we were before, we're not as bad as we were in the place that we came from, but we're not where we want to be yet. We don't see the full version of ourselves that we want to see yet, the successful version, the prosperous version of ourselves yet we don't quite see it yet. So we're kind of in the middle and so many people probably people around the world are in transition and a lot of people are afraid of transition, to be honest with you. But it takes us to transformation. We can't get the transformation until we go through transition.
Speaker 1:Why did I bring up number 14? The reason why is because the children of Israel got weary of not getting to the place where they wanted to be. So, rather than deal with the discomfort, deal with the tension of being in a place of transition, which is what the wilderness was for them A lot of bad behaviors, attitudes and really negative how do I say this? Just negative mindset was being worked out of the people in this nation in this place of transition. If you're in a place of transition right now, give me a shout out in the comment section. Let us know what you think about what you're hearing.
Speaker 1:But many of us are in a place of transition and, if we're honest, some of us thought about going back to where we were because it was known, it was familiar and, most of all, it was comfortable. Be honest about that if you're hearing that today and you know that that was you. But the children of Israel they wanted to go back to Egypt, even though it was a horrible place for them. They were in horrible condition. They wanted to go back to that just because transition was uncomfortable, just because they didn't recognize transition. They hadn't been to this place before, it wasn't familiar to them and it definitely wasn't comfortable for them. So they wanted to go back to a place that was awful, just because they couldn't walk through a place that was unfamiliar and uncomfortable. Think about that Drop comfortable in the comment section if you're listening to this episode today.
Speaker 1:There's so many things that we want to accomplish when it comes to transformation and kind of blowing up and becoming a success in the areas that we're serving and working in and functioning in. But there's some things that we want but they look different to us. See, a lot of people want to get to the future, but they want to drag all the heavy baggage of the past along with them. I've had clients in the past that we had to fight and struggle with that understanding. They want to go to this place that we'll just call the future. I won't tell you what they were trying to accomplish, but the bottom line is that they had a lofty goal for themselves. As a coach, I was hoping them accomplish that, but they want to take all of their baggage from the past, all the old things that were emblematic of who they used to be, who they didn't like about themselves, who they didn't even want to be in the first place. They should get as far away from that as possible. You know. Logically, you would think that, right, they want to get away from that stuff the mindset, the memories, the people, the relationships, the connections but they drag all that stuff with them on the way to the future.
Speaker 1:And then you wonder why it takes so long to get to where you want to go. The truth in Israel, from the place of Egypt to the place that was considered the promised land, was supposed to take 11 days in total and that might be including some breaks and some layovers here and there, but 11 days total. It took them 40 years. Imagine the amount of frustration that had to come with that for anybody that's leading these people. An 11-day journey took 40 years. I felt that frustration as a coach in the past, something I know was an easy turnaround. That should be a good, quick first step so we can get to the hardest second step. There were times we were stuck on the first step for weeks and months, frustrated for myself as a coach and frustrated for my client, and they couldn't understand why they couldn't get there.
Speaker 1:The children of Israel, like many of us, have baggage, heavy bags from the past that we just refuse to let go of. If you had a tight grip on old stuff. How do you have an open hand to receive what's coming, to receive what's new, to receive what's best for you? You can't. You can't because your hand is gripped on something that you don't need to be carrying or pulling or holding on to. It's too much baggage.
Speaker 1:It's incredible to me the amount of people who are so quick when transition hits and the uncomfortability of a situation hits, how quick they want to go back to what they've been healed of Credit card debt, bad relationships, your hometown and all the people's perception of you in your hometown, even work culture. It amazes me how quick people relent and go back to what it was they used to do, who they used to be, who they didn't even like in the first place. If you're in a place of transition we're going to have more episodes about this because this topic just has so many legs and tentacles to it. We can't stop here, but I want to go ahead and end the episode now, but I want to let you know if you're in a place of transition. Stay tuned to the Inspiration Station in this episode, along with the ones to follow.
Speaker 1:We're going to talk more about this because there's so much more meat on the bone and I want you and me and us to get through this place of transition and get to the place of transformation, get to the place of healing, get to the place of personal growth and development. We need it, we deserve it and we just simply have to have it. So thank you again for listening to this show and for supporting us. I believe great things are coming. Please drop a review on Apple podcast. For us, a five-star review would be awesome. Let us know how we're doing. Let us know why you love the show. Look forward to hearing from you guys real soon.
